Can I pick up a prescription for someone else?

Pharmacist checking a prescriptionYes, you can collect a prescription from the Pharmacy on behalf of someone.

The person who you are collecting the prescription for needs to have filled in the relevant information on the prescription, that informs us that someone else will be picking up the prescription on their behalf.

We then have to check to make sure that the prescription is signed by the correct individual, and whether or not the individual is exempt from payment for the medication.

If the prescription is for a C.D. (Controlled Drug), the Pharmacist will ask for proof of your identity, and your relationship to the patient. This is a legal requirement, and is put in place to reduce the misuse of these drugs.
